Driver's Door Fails To Lock & Unlock From Any Switch

  1. Disconnect Black 4-pin driver's door lock motor connector, located in rear of door. Connect test light between Black 4-pin driver's door lock motor connector terminals No. 3 (Dark Blue wire) and No. 4 (Orange/Black wire). Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC), under lower left side of instrument panel. Using scan tool, actuate door lock relay, then door unlock relay while observing test light. If test light illuminates when actuating door lock relay and door unlock relay, replace door latch assembly. See DOOR LATCH ASSEMBLY  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If test light does not illuminate when actuating door lock relay and door unlock relay, go to next step.
  2. Disconnect Gray 16-pin Central Timer Module (CTM) connector C2. CTM is located behind left side kick panel. Using DVOM, measure resistance of Orange/Black wire between Gray 16-pin CTM connector C2 terminal No. 4 and Black 4-pin driver's door lock motor connector terminal No. 4. See Figure . If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Orange/Black wire between Gray 16-pin CTM connector C2 terminal No. 4 and Black 4-pin driver's door lock motor connector terminal No. 4.
  3. Using DVOM, measure resistance of Dark Blue wire between Gray 16-pin CTM connector C2 terminal No. 6 and Black 4-pin driver's door lock motor connector terminal No. 3. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Dark Blue wire between Gray 16-pin CTM connector C2 terminal No. 6 and Black 4-pin driver's door lock motor connector terminal No. 3.
  4. Replace CTM. See CENTRAL TIMER MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
