VTSS Indicator Inoperative

  1. Disconnect Black 10-pin instrument cluster connector C1. See Figure . Using test light connected to battery voltage, probe Black 10-pin instrument cluster connector C1 terminal No. 3 (Black/Orange wire). See Figure . Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC), under lower left side of instrument panel. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, select VEHICLE THEFT. Using scan tool, actuate VTSS indicator. If test light illuminates when actuating VTSS indicator, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If test light does not illuminate when actuating VTSS indicator, go to next step.
  2. Disconnect Gray 26-pin Central Timer Module (CTM) connector C1. CTM is located behind left side kick panel. Using DVOM, measure resistance of Black/Orange wire between Black 10-pin instrument cluster connector C1 terminal No. 3 and Gray 26-pin Central Timer Module (CTM) connector C1 terminal No. 6. See Figure . If resistance is 5 ohms or less, replace CTM. See CENTRAL TIMER MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Black/Orange wire between Black 10-pin instrument cluster connector C1 terminal No. 3 and Gray 26-pin CTM connector C1 terminal No. 6.
