Rear Wiper Park Switch Sense Circuit Low

  1. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC), under lower left side of instrument panel. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, erase DTCs. Turn ignition off. Wait 15 seconds. Turn ignition on. Operate rear wiper system in all modes. Using scan tool, read DTCs. If scan tool displays REAR WIPER PARK SWITCH SENSE CIRCUIT LOW, go to next step. If scan tool does not display REAR WIPER PARK SWITCH SENSE CIRCUIT LOW, problem is intermittent. Visually inspect and wiggle test related wiring.
  2. Using scan tool, erase DTCs. Turn ignition off. Remove rear wiper relay from power distribution center, located in left side of engine compartment, near battery. See Figure . Substitute rear wiper relay with a known-good relay. Turn ignition on. Operate rear wiper system in all modes. Using scan tool, read DTCs. If scan tool displays REAR WIPER PARK SWITCH SENSE CIRCUIT LOW, go to next step. If scan tool does not display REAR WIPER PARK SWITCH SENSE CIRCUIT LOW, replace rear wiper relay.
  3. Using scan tool, erase DTCs. Set rear wipers to park position. Turn ignition off. Disconnect Black 4-pin rear wiper motor connector. Using DVOM, measure resistance of park switch between rear wiper motor terminals No. 1 and 3. See Fig 1 . If resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, replace rear wiper motor. See appropriate WIPER/WASHER SYSTEMS article.
  4. Disconnect Central Timer Module (CTM) connectors. CTM is located behind left side kick panel. Turn ignition on. Using DVOM, measure resistance between ground and Black 4-pin rear wiper motor connector terminal No. 3 (Brown/Light Green wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, repair short to ground in Brown/Light Green wire between Black 4-pin rear wiper motor connector terminal No. 3 and Gray 16-pin CTM connector C2 terminal No. 12. See Figure .
  5. Replace CTM. See CENTRAL TIMER MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
