Transmission Verification Test

  1. Inspect vehicle to ensure that all components are properly installed and connected. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Using scan tool, erase DTCs. Using scan tool, select transmission fluid temperature. Start and run engine until transmission temperature reaches at least 110°F (43°C). Check transmission fluid and fill to proper level. See appropriate AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SERVICING article in TRANSMISSION SERVICE & REPAIR.
  2. Using scan tool, select engine RPM. From a standing start, accelerate up to 45 MPH with a constant throttle opening of 20-25 degrees and make approximately 15-20 1-2, 2-3 and 3-4 upshifts. Make 5-8 wide-open-throttle kickdowns to 1st gear with vehicle below 25 MPH.
  3. Using scan tool, check for DTCs during road test. Use EATX OBD-II TASK MANAGER to run GOOD TRIP TIME in each gear. This will confirm the repair and ensure the DTC has not re-matured. If no DTCs exist, repair is complete. If any DTCs or symptoms remain, see DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE IDENTIFICATION  and SYMPTOM IDENTIFICATION  tables under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
