Liftgate Cylinder Switch Input Open

NOTE: When this DTC is set, Vehicle Theft Security System (VTSS) indicator will stay on during VTSS arming process.
NOTE: After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  1. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Turn ignition off. Monitor DTCs on scan tool. Operate liftgate cylinder switch several times. If LIFTGATE CYLINDER SWITCH INPUT OPEN resets, go to next step. If LIFTGATE CYLINDER SWITCH INPUT OPEN does not reset, system is operating properly at this time. Check for intermittent poor connections or faulty circuits.
  2. Using scan tool, select SENSORS. Monitor LGATE CYL SW voltage. If voltage is greater than 4.6 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 4.6 volts or less, replace Body Control Module (BCM). See BODY CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  3. Disconnect liftgate cylinder switch connector. To access connector, door panel will need to be removed. See POWER SLIDING DOOR MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Using a test light connected to battery voltage, probe liftgate cylinder switch connector terminal No. 1 (Black/Gray wire). If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, repair open in Black/Gray wire between cylinder switch and ground.
  4. Using DVOM, measure voltage between ground and liftgate cylinder switch connector terminal No. 2 (Violet/Gray wire). If voltage is 4.6 volts or less, repair open in Violet/Gray wire between liftgate cylinder switch and BCM connector C3 terminal No. 13. See Figure . If voltage is greater than 4.6 volts, replace liftgate cylinder switch.
