Overhead Liftgate/Lockout Switches Open

NOTE: After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  1. Using scan tool, erase DTCs. Turn ignition off. Wait approximately 10 seconds. Turn ignition on. Operate liftgate from overhead console switch. Recheck for DTCs. If OVERHEAD LIFTGATE/LOCKOUT SWITCHES OPEN resets, go to next step. If OVERHEAD LIFTGATE/LOCKOUT SWITCHES OPEN does not reset, system is operating properly at this time. Check for intermittent poor connections or faulty circuits.
  2. Locate and disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) connector C2. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS  . See Figure . Using DVOM, measure voltage between ground and BCM connector C2 terminal No. 6 (Violet/Tan wire). If no voltage is present, go to next step. If any voltage is present, repair short to voltage in Violet/Tan wire between BCM and overhead console connector terminal No. 2. See Figure .
  3. Using DVOM, measure resistance between ground and BCM connector C2 terminal No. 6 (Violet/Tan wire). If resistance is greater than 25 k/ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 25 k/ohms or less, replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  4. Disconnect overhead console switch. Overhead console will need to be removed to access switch connector. See OVERHEAD CONSOLE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Using DVOM, measure resistance of Violet/Tan wire between BCM connector C2 terminal No. 6 and overhead console switch connector terminal No. 2. See Figure . If resistance is 5 ohms or less, replace overhead console switch assembly. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Violet/Tan wire.
