Overhead Liftgate/Lockout Switches Open
NOTE:
After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST
under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Using scan tool, erase DTCs. Turn ignition off. Wait approximately 10 seconds. Turn ignition on. Operate liftgate from overhead console switch. Recheck for DTCs. If OVERHEAD LIFTGATE/LOCKOUT SWITCHES OPEN resets, go to next step. If OVERHEAD LIFTGATE/LOCKOUT SWITCHES OPEN does not reset, system is operating properly at this time. Check for intermittent poor connections or faulty circuits.
- Locate and disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) connector C2. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS . See Figure . Using DVOM, measure voltage between ground and BCM connector C2 terminal No. 6 (Violet/Tan wire). If no voltage is present, go to next step. If any voltage is present, repair short to voltage in Violet/Tan wire between BCM and overhead console connector terminal No. 2. See Figure .
- Using DVOM, measure resistance between ground and BCM connector C2 terminal No. 6 (Violet/Tan wire). If resistance is greater than 25 k/ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 25 k/ohms or less, replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Disconnect overhead console switch. Overhead console will need to be removed to access switch connector. See OVERHEAD CONSOLE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Using DVOM, measure resistance of Violet/Tan wire between BCM connector C2 terminal No. 6 and overhead console switch connector terminal No. 2. See Figure . If resistance is 5 ohms or less, replace overhead console switch assembly. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Violet/Tan wire.
