PCM Status Failure Or Serial Link External Fault

NOTE: After making any repairs, perform SKIS VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  1. Using scan tool, record and erase Sentry Key Immobilizer Module (SKIM) DTCs. Turn ignition off. Wait approximately 2 minutes. Turn ignition on. Recheck for DTCs. If DTC resets, go to next step. If DTC does not reset, system is okay at this time. Check for intermittent poor connections or faulty circuits. See WIRING DIAGRAMS in ANTI-THEFT SYSTEMS - CARAVAN, TOWN & COUNTRY, & VOYAGER article. Check for related Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs). Repair as necessary.
  2. Turn ignition off. Check for intermittent poor connections or faulty circuits. See WIRING DIAGRAMS in ANTI-THEFT SYSTEMS - CARAVAN, TOWN & COUNTRY, & VOYAGER article. Check for related Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs). If problems were found, repair as necessary. If no problems are found, go to next step.
    NOTE: Before performing next step, obtain vehicles unique Personal Identification Number (PIN) assigned to original SKIM from customer or contact manufacturer.
  3. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, display and erase all Powertrain Control Module (PCM) and SKIM DTCs. Cycle ignition off and back on 5 times, leaving ignition in on position for a minimum of 90 seconds between each cycle. Recheck for DTCs. If DTC resets, replace PCM. See POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If DTC does not reset, test is complete.
