Rolling Code Failure
NOTE:
After making any repairs, perform SKIS VERIFICATION TEST
under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Using scan tool, record and erase Sentry Key Immobilizer Module (SKIM) DTCs. Turn ignition off. Wait approximately 2 minutes. Turn ignition on. Recheck for DTCs. If DTC resets, go to next step. If DTC does not reset, system is okay at this time. Check for intermittent poor connections or faulty circuits. See WIRING DIAGRAMS in ANTI-THEFT SYSTEMS - CARAVAN, TOWN & COUNTRY, & VOYAGER article. Check for related Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs). Repair as necessary.
- Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, select ENGINE system. Display stored Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). If a VIN is not displayed, attempt to program VIN into Powertrain Control Module (PCM). If stored VIN matches actual vehicle VIN, go to next step. If stored VIN does not match actual vehicle VIN, replace PCM. See POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Turn ignition off. Replace SKIM. See SENTRY KEY IMMOBILIZER MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, record and erase all PCM and SKIM DTCs. Cycle ignition off and back on 5 times, leaving ignition in on position for a minimum of 90 seconds between each cycle. Recheck for DTCs. If DTC resets, replace PCM. See POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If DTC does not reset, test is complete.
