Installation (Sebring Coupe & Stratus Coupe)
CAUTION:
To prevent damage to packing, install packing on fuel tank and not on fuel pump module. Do not tilt fuel pump module when installing.
- Inspect fuel tank for damage. Replace fuel tank if damaged. If fuel tank is okay, securely install packing on fuel tank threads. Ensure packing is not folded. See Fig 1. Apply soapy water to packing.
- Install fuel pump module in fuel tank. Align mating marks as shown in illustration. See Fig 2. Using Tank Cap Wrench (MB991480), tighten fuel pump module cap to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Perform the following to check for leaks: apply soapy water to inside diameter of fuel tank cap. Plug vapor hoses and high pressure fuel hose. Apply 1.45 psi (10.0 kPa) or less of air pressure to fuel tank using return hose inlet. Ensure no bubbles form in soapy water.
- To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. After installing high pressure fuel hose, gently pull hose in removal direction to ensure hose is firmly connected.
