Courtesy Lights Stay On At All Times
NOTE:
After making any repairs, perform BODY CONTROL MODULES SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST
under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Turn ignition off. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Close driver door. Using scan tool, read DR DOOR AJAR SWITCH status. If scan tool displays OPEN, go to next step. If scan tool does not display OPEN, go to step 6 .
- Close all doors. Using scan tool, read DOOR AJAR SWITCH status. If scan tool displays OPEN, go to next step. If scan tool does not display OPEN, go to step 4 .
- Ensure courtesy lights switch is off. Disconnect junction block connector C11. See Figure . Ensure all doors are closed. Lock driver door. If door courtesy lights go out, repair short to ground in courtesy light driver circuit (Yellow wire) between junction block and overhead console. If door courtesy lights do not go out, go to next step.
- Using scan tool, read DOOR AJAR SWITCH status while disconnecting each door lock motor/ajar switch connector except driver door. If scan tool display does not change when a connector is disconnected, go to next step. If scan tool display changes when a connector is disconnected, replace appropriate door lock motor/ajar switch.
- Ensure ignition is off. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) connector C4. Disconnect all door lock motor/ajar switch connectors except driver door. Measure resistance between ground and each BCM connector C4 passenger door ajar switch sense circuit terminal (Tan/Red wires). See PASSENGER DOOR AJAR SWITCH SENSE CIRCUITS
table. See Figure
. If any resistance is less than 100 ohms, repair short to ground in Tan/Red wire between BCM and appropriate door lock motor/ajar switch. If all resistances are 100 ohms or more, leave BCM connector C4 disconnected, and go to next step.PASSENGER DOOR AJAR SWITCH SENSE CIRCUITS

- Ensure driver door lock motor/ajar switch connector is properly connected. Close and lock driver door. Measure resistance between ground and BCM connector C4 terminal No. 4, driver door ajar switch sense circuit (Tan wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace driver door lock motor/ajar switch. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, replace BCM.
