Right Front Door Ajar Switch Sense Circuit Open
NOTE:
After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Open passenger door. Using scan tool, select INPUTS/OUTPUTS and monitor PASS DOOR AJAR SW state. If LIFTGATE AJAR SW state is not CLOSED, go to next step. If PASS DOOR AJAR SW state is CLOSED, system is okay at this time. Check for intermittent connections or faulty circuits at liftgate ajar switch.
- On vehicles equipped with power door locks, access and disconnect front door lock motor/ajar switch connector. See Figure. Using a test light connected to battery voltage, probe front door lock motor/ajar switch connector terminal No. 1 (Black/White wire). On vehicles equipped with manual door locks, access and disconnect door ajar switch connector. See POWER DOOR LOCKS & LIFTGATE RELEASE article. Using a test light connected to battery voltage, probe door ajar switch connector terminal No. 1 (Black/White wire). On all vehicles, if test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, repair open in Black/White wire between door lock motor/ajar switch (with power locks) or driver's door ajar switch (without power locks) and ground. See POWER DOOR LOCKS in appropriate SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article in ELECTRICAL.
- Monitor PASS DOOR AJAR SW state. Connect a fused jumper wire between door lock motor/ajar switch (with power locks) or driver's door ajar switch (without power locks) connector terminals No. 1 (Violet/White wire) and No. 2 (Black/White wire). If PASS DOOR AJAR SW state is not CLOSED, go to next step. If PASS DOOR AJAR SW state is CLOSED, replace door lock motor/ajar switch (with power locks) or driver's door ajar switch (without power locks).
- Locate and disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) connector C3. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS . See Figure. Using DVOM, measure resistance of Violet/White wire between door lock motor/ajar switch (with power locks) or driver's door ajar switch (without power locks) connector and BCM connector C3 terminal No. 7. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Violet/White wire.
