Right Turn Signal Indicator Open (Lowline Models)

NOTE: After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  1. Turn ignition on. Monitor right turn signal indicator. Operate right turn signal. If turn signal indicator is not operating, go to next step. If right turn signal indicator operates, conditions necessary to set this DTC are not present at this time. Monitor DTC related parameters on scan tool while wiggling connectors and harness. Check for intermittent poor connections or faulty circuits and repair as necessary. Check for any related Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs).
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect instrument cluster connector. For removal and installation procedure, see ANALOG INSTRUMENT PANELS article. Turn ignition on. Using a test light connected to ground, probe instrument cluster connector terminal No. 6 (Brown/Red wire). See Figure. If test light illuminates brightly, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate brightly, repair faulty Brown/Red wire between instrument cluster and fuse No. 24 (20-amp) located in Intelligent Power Module (IPM) in left front corner of engine compartment. See Figure.
  3. Turn ignition on. Using a test light connected to battery voltage, probe instrument cluster connector terminal No. 2 (White/Tan wire). Operate right turn signal. If test light does not flash off and on, go to next step. If test light flashes off and on, check condition of right turn signal indicator bulb in instrument cluster. If bulb is okay, replace instrument cluster.
  4. Turn ignition off. Locate and disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) connector C4. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS . See Figure. Using DVOM, measure resistance between ground and BCM connector C4 terminal No. 17 (White/Tan wire). If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, repair short to ground in White/Tan wire.
  5. Using DVOM, measure resistance of White/Tan wire between instrument cluster connector terminal No. 2 and BCM connector C4 terminal No. 17. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in White/Tan wire.
