VTSS Indicator Inoperative

NOTE: After making any repairs, perform VTSS VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  1. Disconnect instrument panel message center connector located above instrument cluster on instrument panel. Instrument cluster will need to be removed for access. See Figure. For removal and installation procedure, see ANALOG INSTRUMENT PANELS article. Using DVOM, measure voltage between ground and message center connector terminal No. 7 (Brown/Red wire). See Figure. If voltage is greater than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair open in Brown/Red wire between message center and fuse No. 24 (20-amp) located in Intelligent Power Module (IPM). See Figure.
  2. Locate and disconnect BCM connector C4. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS . See Figure. Using DVOM, measure resistance of Violet/White wire between message center connector terminal No. 4 and BCM connector C4 terminal No. 8. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, repair open in Violet/White wire. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
