Front Wiper Not Parked

NOTE: After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  1. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, select BODY, FRONT CONTROL MODULE then INPUTS/OUTPUTS and monitor WIPER PARK SW state. If WIPER PARK SW state is CLOSED, go to next step. If WIPER PARK SW state is not CLOSED, go to step  3.
  2. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, erase Front Control Module (FCM) DTCs. Turn ignition off. Conditions necessary to set this DTC are not present at this time. Check for related Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs). Monitor DTC related parameters on scan tool while wiggling connectors and harness. Check for intermittent poor connections or faulty circuits and repair as necessary.
  3. Turn ignition off. Check for mechanical defects or physical obstructions of front wiper system. Check for broken or damaged components preventing wiper system from properly parking. Repair as necessary. If front wiper system is okay, go to next step.
  4. Locate and disconnect front wiper module connector. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS . Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, select BODY, FRONT CONTROL MODULE then INPUTS/OUTPUTS and monitor WIPER PARK SW state. Connect a jumper wire to front wiper module connector terminal No. 2 (Brown/Gray wire). Momentarily connect other end of jumper wire to ground several times while monitoring scan tool. If WIPER PARK SW state does not change from OPEN to CLOSED when jumper wire is touched to ground, go to next step. If WIPER PARK SW state changes from OPEN to CLOSED when jumper wire is touched to ground, replace front wiper module. See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in WIPER/WASHER SYSTEMS article.
  5. Turn ignition off. Locate and disconnect Front Control Module (FCM). See FRONT CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Using DVOM, measure resistance of Brown/Gray wire between front wiper module connector terminal No. 2 and FCM connector terminal No. 16. See Figure. If resistance is 10 ohms or less, replace FCM. If resistance is greater than 10 ohms, repair open in Brown/Gray wire or repair circuit between Intelligent Power Module (IPM) connector C7 terminal No. 7 and FCM connector terminal No. 16. See Figure.
