Front Wiper Park Switch Short To GND

NOTE: After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  1. Turn ignition on. Set wipers to intermittent position. Using scan tool, select BODY, FRONT CONTROL MODULE then INPUTS/OUTPUTS and monitor WIPER PARK SW state. If WIPER PARK SW state changes from OPEN to CLOSED during operation of wipers, go to next step. If WIPER PARK SW state does not change from OPEN to CLOSED during operation of wipers, go to step  3.
  2. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, erase Front Control Module (FCM) DTCs. Turn ignition off. Conditions necessary to set this DTC are not present at this time. Check for related Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs). Monitor DTC related parameters on scan tool while wiggling connectors and harness. Check for intermittent poor connections or faulty circuits and repair as necessary.
  3. Turn ignition off. Locate and disconnect front wiper module connector. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS . Locate and disconnect Front Control Module (FCM). Using DVOM, measure resistance between ground and front wiper module connector terminal No. 2 (Brown/Gray wire). If resistance is greater than 1000 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 1000 ohms or less, repair short to ground in Brown/Gray wire between front wiper module connector terminal No. 2 and Intelligent Power Module (IPM) connector C7 terminal No. 7 or repair circuit between IPM and FCM connector terminal No. 16. See Figure and Figure .
  4. Reconnect front wiper module connector. Turn ignition on. Set wipers to intermittent position. Using a test light connected to battery voltage, backprobe front wiper motor connector terminal No. 2 (Brown/Gray wire). While wipers are operating, test light should illuminate when wipers are parked and turn off when wipers are moving. If test light responds as described, replace FCM. If test light does not respond as described, replace front wiper module. See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in WIPER/WASHER SYSTEMS article.
