Rear Wiper Output Open

NOTE: After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  1. Turn ignition on. Turn rear wiper on. If rear wiper operates, go to next step. If rear wiper does not operate, go to step  3.
  2. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, erase Body Control Module (BCM) and Front Control Module (FCM) DTCs. Turn ignition off. Conditions necessary to set this DTC are not present at this time. Check for related Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs). Check for faulty circuits while wiggling connectors and harness. Check for intermittent poor connections or faulty circuits and repair as necessary.
  3. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect rear wiper motor connector. See Figure. Rear liftgate door panel will need to be removed to access connector. See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in WIPER/WASHER SYSTEMS article. Turn ignition on. Using a test light connected to ground, probe rear wiper motor connector terminal No. 3 (Brown/Light Green wire). Turn rear wipers on. If test light illuminates brightly, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate or is dim, go to step  5.
  4. Using a test light connected to battery voltage, probe rear wiper motor connector terminal No. 1 (Black/Light Green wire). If test light illuminates brightly, replace rear wiper motor. If test light does not illuminate or is dim, repair open in Black/Light Green wire between rear wiper motor and ground. See in WIPER/WASHER in appropriate SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article in ELECTRICAL.
  5. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Locate and disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) connector C2. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS . See Figure. Using DVOM, measure resistance of Brown/Light Green wire between BCM connector C2 terminal No. 32 and rear wiper motor connector terminal No. 3. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Brown/Light Green wire.
  6. Turn ignition on. Using a test light connected to ground, probe rear wiper motor connector terminal No. 3 (Brown/Light Green wire). If test light illuminates, repair short to voltage in Brown/Light Green wire. If test light does not illuminate, replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
