Rear Riser Sensor Out Of Range Low
NOTE:
After making any repairs, perform MEMORY SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Using scan tool, erase DTCs from Memory Seat/Mirror Module (MSMM). Operate driver's power seat and memory functions. Turn ignition off. Start engine and let idle for approximately one minute. Recheck for DTCs in MSMM. If REAR RISER SENSOR OUT OF RANGE LOW resets, go to next step. If REAR RISER SENSOR OUT OF RANGE LOW does not reset, conditions necessary to set this DTC are not present at this time. Check for intermittent poor connections or faulty circuits and repair as necessary. See MEMORY SYSTEMS in appropriate SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article in ELECTRICAL.
- Turn ignition off. Locate and disconnect driver's seat rear riser sensor 3-pin connector. Rear riser sensor connector has Light Green/Brown, Light Green/Light Blue and Light Green/White wires. Turn ignition on. Using DVOM, measure voltage between ground and driver's seat rear riser sensor 3-pin connector terminal "C" (Light Green/White wire). If voltage is greater than 4.5 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 4.5 volts or less, go to step 6.
- Turn ignition off. Locate and disconnect MSMM connectors. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS . Using DVOM, measure resistance of Light Green/Light Blue wire between driver's seat rear riser sensor 3-pin connector terminal "B" and MSMM connector C2 terminal No. 3. See Figure and Figure . If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Light Green/Light Blue wire.
- Using DVOM, measure resistance between ground and driver's seat rear riser sensor 3-pin connector terminal "B" (Light Green/Light Blue wire). If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, repair short to ground in Light Green/Light Blue wire.
- Reconnect MSMM connectors. Connect a fused jumper wire between driver's seat rear riser sensor 3-pin connector terminals "B" (Light Green/Light Blue wire) and "C" (Light Green/White wire). Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, select BODY MEMORY SEAT SENSORS and monitor REAR RISER POSITION SENSOR voltage. If REAR RISER POSITION SENSOR voltage is 4.5 volts or less, replace MSMM. See MEMORY SEAT/MIRROR MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If REAR RISER POSITION SENSOR voltage is greater than 4.5 volts, replace seat track assembly. See POWER SEAT POSITION ADJUSTER TRACK under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in POWER SEATS article.
- Turn ignition off. Locate and disconnect MSMM connectors. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS . Using DVOM, measure resistance between ground and driver's seat rear riser sensor 3-pin connector terminal "C" (Light Green/White wire). If resistance is greater than 100 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 100 ohms or less, repair short to ground in Light Green/White wire.
- Using DVOM, measure resistance of Light Green/White wire between MSMM connector C3 terminal No. 6 and driver's seat rear riser sensor 3-pin connector terminal "C". See Figure and Figure . If resistance is 5 ohms or less, replace MSMM. See MEMORY SEAT/MIRROR MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Light Green/White wire.
