Liftgate Power Release Output Short

NOTE: After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  1. Ensure vehicle is unlocked. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, record and erase DTCs. Monitor DTCs on scan tool. Open liftgate using liftgate handle several times. If LIFTGATE UNLOCK POWER OUTPUT SHORT resets, go to next step. If LIFTGATE UNLOCK POWER OUTPUT SHORT does not reset, system is operating properly at this time. Check for intermittent poor connections or faulty circuits.
  2. Locate and disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) connector C3. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS . See Figure. Using DVOM, measure resistance between ground and BCM connector C3 terminal No. 28 (Tan/Yellow wire). If resistance is 3.5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 3.5 ohms, replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  3. With DVOM still connected, disconnect liftgate ajar switch/power release connector. To access connector, door panel will need to be removed. For removal and installation procedures, see POWER SLIDING DOOR MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If resistance is 100 ohms or less, repair short to ground in Tan/Yellow wire between liftgate ajar switch/power release and BCM. If resistance is greater than 100 ohms, replace liftgate ajar switch/power release.
