Vehicle Theft Alarm Indicator Output Open

NOTE: After making any repairs, perform VTSS VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  1. Turn the ignition on. With the DRBIII®, erase the current Body Control Module DTC's. Turn the ignition off, wait 10 seconds then turn the ignition on. With the DRBIII®, read the current Body Control Module DTC's. If the DRBIII® displays: VTA INDICATOR OUTPUT OPEN, go to the next step. If the DRBIII® does not display: VTA INDICATOR OUTPUT OPEN, the condition that caused this symptom is currently not present. Inspect the related wiring harness for a possible intermittent condition.
  2. Disconnect the Message Center harness connector. See Figure. Disconnect the Body Control Module C4 harness connector. See Figure. Measure the resistance of the VTSS Indicator Driver circuit. If the resistance is below 5 ohms, replace the Body Control Module. See BODY CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If the resistance is above 5 ohms, repair the VTSS Indicator Driver circuit for an open.
