Chime System
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Dodge Dakota. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
The chime system is built into the CTM. There are 2 chime rates, Low (50 chimes per minute) for reminders and High (180 chimes per minute) for serious conditions that require immediate attention. The high rate chime sounds when the key is left in the ignition and the driver door is open or if the headlamps, the courtesy lamps or cargo lamps are left on. The low rate chime sounds for any of the other conditions. The seat belt warning chime is activated for 6 seconds, and all other chime conditions will activate the chime once at the same time the warning lamp on the cluster is illuminated.
The Chime will sound for the following conditions:
- ABS lamp on.
- AIR BAG lamp illuminated (after prove-out).
- Check gauges lamp.
- Door ajar warning (if vehicle speed is more than zero MPH).
- Ignition off, cargo lamps on, drivers door open.

- Over speed warning (Gulf coast country).
- RESET Button pressed on CMTC.
- Seat belt warning (after prove-out).
