Compass Variance Procedure

  1. Compass variance is the difference between magnetic north and geographic north. To adjust compass variance, turn ignition on. If compass/temperature data is not currently being displayed, momentarily depress and release STEP button to step through display options until you have reached compass/temperature display. Depress and hold RESET button for approximately 5 seconds until VAR is displayed. Release button. VAR along with current variance zone will appear in display.
  2. Select proper variance zone for your location. See Fig 1 . Momentarily depress and release STEP button to step through zone numbers, until zone number for your geographic location appears in display. Momentarily depress and release RESET button to enter displayed zone number into compass memory.
