TCM Quick Learn Procedure

NOTE: This procedure may also be identified as TCM Standard Procedure.

The quick learn procedure requires the use of the DRBIII(R). This program allows the electronic transmission system to recalibrate itself. This will provide for proper transmission operation. The quick learn procedure should be performed if any of the following procedures are performed:

Transmission Assembly replacement.
TCM replacement.
Solenoid Pack replacement.
Clutch Plate and/or Seal replacement.
Valve Body replacement or reconditioning.

To perform the Quick Learn Procedure, the following conditions must be met:

Brakes must be applied.
The engine speed must be more than 500 RPM.
Throttle position must be less than 3 degrees.
The shift lever position must stay in Park until prompted to shift to Overdrive.
The shift lever position must stay in Overdrive after the Shift to Overdrive prompt until the DRBIII(R) indicates the procedure is complete.
Oil temperature must be 60-200°F (15-93°C).

To perform quick learn procedure, select TRANSMISSION, MISCELLANEOUS, then QUICK LEARN on DRBIII(R). Follow on-screen instructions. Ensure conditions listed have been met or procedure may abort.
