Self-Diagnostic System: Notes

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Dodge Dakota. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
CAUTION: When battery is disconnected, vehicle computer and memory systems may lose memory data. Driveability problems may exist until computer systems have completed a relearn cycle. See COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES article in GENERAL INFORMATION before disconnecting battery.
CAUTION: Ensure ignition switch is in OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any system control module or vehicle battery. Damage to control module(s) could occur, if power is directly removed or connected from some control modules.
NOTE: If a PCI Bus DTC is present, it must be repaired before proceeding with any other repair procedures. If PCI Bus DTCs are stored, go to appropriate procedure for displayed DTC. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS  . If no PCI Bus DTCs are stored, diagnose by symptom. See SYMPTOM IDENTIFICATION  .
NOTE: Self-diagnostic procedures are written specifically for use with Chrysler's Diagnostic Readout Box (DRBIII(R)). Other generic scan tools can be used, but may have limited functions.
