  2. If SKIM or PCM was replaced, go to step  5 . If SKIM or PCM was not replaced, go to next step.
  3. If CTM was replaced, turn ignition on for 15 seconds to learn VIN or engine may not start, if equipped with VTSS. If vehicle is equipped with VTSS, use DRBIII(R) to enable VTSS and the EQ setting.
  4. Program all RKE transmitters and other options as necessary. See PROGRAMMING  . Go to step  7 .
  5. Obtain vehicle's unique PIN assigned to original SKIM from vehicle owner or manufacturer.
  6. CAUTION: If 3 attempts are made to enter secured access mode using an incorrect PIN, secured access mode will be locked out for one hour which causes the DRBIII(R) to display BUS +\- SIGNALS OPEN. To exit this mode, turn ignition switch to the RUN position for one hour.
NOTE: Once secured access mode is active, the SKIM will remain in that mode for 60 seconds.
  7. Using the DRBIII(R), select THEFT ALARM, SKIM, MISCELLANEOUS, then SKIM REPLACED. Enter secured access mode by entering the vehicle 4-digit PIN. The DRBIII(R) will prompt for the following:
    • Program all customer's keys into SKIM memory.
    • Program the vehicle's VIN into the SKIM memory.
    • Transfer the vehicle's Secret Key data from the PCM.

      See PROGRAMMING  .

  8. If any HVAC system actuators/circuits were repaired/replaced, HVAC door recalibration will need to be performed. Using the DRBIII(R), select HVAC, SYSTEM TESTS, then HVAC DOOR RECALIBRATION.
  9. Ensure all accessories are turned off and battery is fully charged. Turn ignition on. Using the DRBIII(R), erase DTCs from all modules. Start engine and allow it to run for 2 minutes. Fully operate the system that was malfunctioning.
  10. Turn ignition off. Wait 5 seconds. Turn ignition on. Using the DRBIII(R), read DTCs from all modules. Are any DTCs present or is the original condition still present? If yes, repair is not complete. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS  or SYMPTOM IDENTIFICATION  . If no, repair is complete.
