Sentry Key Immobilizer System Verification Test

  1. Reconnect all previously disconnected components and connectors.
  2. Obtain vehicle's unique PIN assigned to original SKIM from vehicle owner or manufacturer.
    3. CAUTION: If 3 attempts are made to enter secured access mode using an incorrect PIN, secured access mode will be locked out for one hour which causes the DRBIII(R) to display BUS +\- SIGNALS OPEN. To exit this mode, turn ignition to the RUN position for one hour.
  3. Using the DRBIII(R), select THEFT ALARM, SKIM, MISCELLANEOUS, then SKIM REPLACED. Enter secured access mode by entering the vehicle 4-digit PIN. Using the DRBIII(R), select the desired procedure and follow the steps that will be displayed.
  4. If the SKIM has been replaced, ensure all of the vehicle ignition keys are programmed to the new SKIM.
    5. NOTE: Prior to returning vehicle to the customer, perform a module scan to be sure that all DTCs are erased. Erase any DTCs that are found.
  5. Using the DRBIII(R), erase all DTCs. Perform 5 ignition key cycles leaving the key on for at least 90 seconds per cycle.
  6. Using the DRBIII(R), read the SKIM DTCs. Are there any SKIM DTCs? If yes, repair is not complete. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS  . If no, repair is complete.
