Sentry Key Immobilizer System Verification Test
- Reconnect all previously disconnected components and connectors.
- Obtain vehicle's unique PIN assigned to original SKIM from vehicle owner or manufacturer.
- Using the DRBIII(R), select THEFT ALARM, SKIM, MISCELLANEOUS, then SKIM REPLACED. Enter secured access mode by entering the vehicle 4-digit PIN. Using the DRBIII(R), select the desired procedure and follow the steps that will be displayed.
- If the SKIM has been replaced, ensure all of the vehicle ignition keys are programmed to the new SKIM.
- Using the DRBIII(R), erase all DTCs. Perform 5 ignition key cycles leaving the key on for at least 90 seconds per cycle.
- Using the DRBIII(R), read the SKIM DTCs. Are there any SKIM DTCs? If yes, repair is not complete. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS . If no, repair is complete.
CAUTION:
If 3 attempts are made to enter secured access mode using an incorrect PIN, secured access mode will be locked out for one hour which causes the DRBIII(R) to display BUS +\- SIGNALS OPEN. To exit this mode, turn ignition to the RUN position for one hour.
NOTE:
Prior to returning vehicle to the customer, perform a module scan to be sure that all DTCs are erased. Erase any DTCs that are found.
