Programming SKIM

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Dodge Durango and 2002 Dodge Dakota. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Connect DRB-III(R) to Data Link Connector (DLC). Place transmission in Park or Neutral. Turn the ignition on, with the engine off.
  2. Using DRB-III(R), select THEFT ALARM, SKIM then MISCELLANEOUS.
  3. Select SKIM MODULE REPLACEMENT GASOLINE.
  4. Program the 4-digit Personal Identification Number (PIN) into the SKIM.
    5. CAUTION: Enter correct country code in SKIM. If incorrect country code is entered, SKIM must be replaced.
  5. Select COUNTRY CODE and enter the correct country.
  6. Select UPDATE VIN (the SKIM will learn the VIN from the PCM).
  7. Press ENTER to transfer the VIN (the PCM will send the VIN to the SKIM).
    8. NOTE: If PCM and SKIM are replaced at the same time, all vehicle keys will need to be replaced and programmed to the new SKIM. See PROGRAMMING IGNITION KEYS TO SKIM  .
  8. The DRB-III(R) will ask if you want to transfer the secret key data from the PCM. This will ensure the current vehicle ignition keys will still operate the Sentry Key Immobilizer System (SKIS).
