Powertrain Verification Test VER-5 (NGC)
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Dodge Durango and 2002 Dodge Dakota. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
After completing this Powertrain Verification Test, perform TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST VER-1 (45RFE/545REF)
.
- Inspect vehicle to ensure all components related to the repair are properly connected. Reassemble and reconnect components as necessary.
- If a Comprehensive Component DTC was repaired, perform steps 3 - 5 . If a Major OBD-II Monitor DTC was repaired skip those steps and continue verification from step 6 .
- Ensure Fuel Tank is at least 1/4 full. Turn off all accessories.
- If the Catalytic Converter was replaced, with the DRB-III(R), go to the MISCELLANEOUS MENU option, CATALYST REPLACED and press ENTER.
- After the ignition has been off for at least 10 seconds, restart the vehicle and run for 2 minutes while noting GOOD TRIP counter. If GOOD TRIP counter changes to one or more and no new DTCs exist, repair was complete. If GOOD TRIP counter changes to zero or repaired DTC or new DTC is stored, repair is not complete. Check for related Technical Service Bulletins (TSB) and flash updates, and/or perform appropriate test. See SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM in SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - DURANGO - NGC article.
- With the DRB-III(R), monitor the appropriate OBD-II PRETEST ENABLING CONDITIONS screen until all conditions have been met. Once the conditions have been met, switch screen to the appropriate OBD-II monitor. Operate vehicle within all enabling conditions and allow applicable OBD-II monitor to run. While OBD-II monitor is running, scan tool will beep.
- If the repaired OBD-II DTC has reset or was seen in the monitor while on the road test, the repair is not complete. Check for any related Technical Service Bulletins (TSB) and flash updates, and/or perform appropriate test. See SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM in SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - DURANGO - NGC article. If the conditions cannot be duplicated, erase all DTCs with the DRB-III(R). If another DTC has set, perform appropriate test. See SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM in SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - DURANGO - NGC article. Did the OBD-II monitor run successfully and has the GOOD TRIP counter changed to one or more? If yes, repair is complete. If no, check for any related TSBs and/or perform appropriate test. See SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM in SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - DURANGO - NGC article.
