Disabling System (Ranger)

  1. Record radio preset frequencies for reprogramming (if equipped). Disconnect negative battery cable. Wait at least one minute for backup power supply to deplete stored energy.
  2. Remove driver air bag module. See DRIVER AIR BAG MODULE . Connect appropriate air bag simulator to clockspring connector at top of steering column (in place of air bag). See AIR BAG SIMULATOR .
  3. NOTE: No restraint system air bag simulator is available for the safety belt buckle pretensioner. If the ignition switch is set to RUN or START position with either the driver or passenger safety belt buckle pretensioner electrical connector disconnected, DTCs for an open circuit fault will be set.
  4. Remove passenger air bag module. See PASSENGER AIR BAG MODULE . Connect appropriate air bag simulator to vehicle harness (in place of air bag). See AIR BAG SIMULATOR . Connect negative battery cable.
