Diagnosis And Testing - Power Windows

Any diagnosis of the Power Windows system should begin with the use of the DRB III(R) diagnostic tool. For information on the use of the DRB III(R), refer to the appropriate Diagnostic Service Procedure.

Refer to the appropriate wiring information. The wiring information includes wiring diagrams, proper wire and connector repair procedures, details of wire harness routing and retention, connector pin-out information and location views for the various wire harness connectors, splices and grounds.

This wiring test determines whether or not voltage is continuous through the wiring harness to the power window switch.

Remove switch for testing (Refer to POWER WINDOW SWITCH  ). Connect the voltmeter positive lead to pin 1 and the negative lead to pin 2 of the switch wire harness connector. Voltmeter should read approximately 5 volts. If OK, (Refer to DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING - POWER WINDOW SWITCH  ). If not OK, check for a broken wire.
