Key In Ignition And Drivers Door Open Chime Not Operating Properly

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan, 2002 Dodge Caravan, 2002 Chrysler Voyager, and 2002 Chrysler Town & Country. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  1. Open the driver door. With the DRB, in Input/Outputs, read the "DR DOOR AJAR SW" state. If the DRB displays "DR DOOR AJAR SW: CLOSED", go to the next step. If the DRB does not display "DR DOOR AJAR SW: CLOSED", refer to symptom list for problems related to Door Ajar. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE IDENTIFICATION  table.
  2. With the DRBIII® in Inputs/Outputs, read the Key in Ign Sw state while inserting the key in and out of the ignition switch. If the DRBIII® displays change from open to closed, replace and program the Body Control Module. See BODY CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If the DRBIII display does not change from open to closed, check the Ignition Lock Cylinder for damage. If OK, replace the Ignition Switch. See STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article.
