Diagnosis And Testing - Power Windows

Any diagnosis of the Power Windows system should begin with the use of scan tool and the  BODY DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES  . 

Refer to Fig 1 -Fig 3 . Also refer to POWER DISTRIBUTION (COMPONENT LOCATIONS) and CONNECTOR/GROUND/SPLICE LOCATION . The wiring information includes wiring diagrams, proper wire and connector repair procedures, details of wire harness routing and retention, connector pin-out information and location views for the various wire harness connectors, splices and grounds.

This wiring test determines whether or not voltage is continuous through the wiring harness to the power window switch.

Remove switch for testing (Refer to REMOVAL  ). Connect the voltmeter positive lead to pin 1 and the negative lead to pin 2 of the switch wire harness connector. Voltmeter should read approximately 5 volts. If OK, (Refer to DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING  ). If not OK, check for a broken wire.
