Side Impact Airbag Control Module: Removal

The removal and installation of the driver and passenger side modules is identical. The orientation of the modules is the only difference.

WARNING: THE MODULES CANNOT BE INTERCHANGED. THEY ARE UNIQUE TO EACH SIDE. FAILURE TO INSTALL THEM PROPERLY COULD RESULT IN OCCUPANT PERSONAL INJURY OR DEATH.

Open hood.
Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable. See Figure.
Wait two minutes for the system reserve capacitor to discharge before servicing any airbag components.
Remove the door sill trim from the appropriate side of the vehicle (Refer to BODY/INTERIOR/DOOR SILL TRIM - REMOVAL) .
Peel back carpet to gain access to the retaining screws.
Remove the SIACM retaining screws. See Figure.
Disconnect the SIACM electrical connector. See Figure.
Remove the SIACM from the vehicle.
