Side Impact Airbag Control Module: Installation
The removal and installation of the driver and passenger side modules is identical. The orientation of the modules is the only difference.
WARNING:
THE MODULES CANNOT BE INTERCHANGED. THEY ARE UNIQUE TO EACH SIDE. FAILURE TO INSTALL THEM PROPERLY COULD RESULT IN OCCUPANT PERSONAL INJURY OR DEATH.
- Connect the SIACM electrical connector. See Figure.
- Position the SIACM below the front door sill and install the retaining screws. See Figure. Torque the nuts to 15 N.m (135 in. lbs.).
- Install the door sill trim on the appropriate side of the vehicle (Refer to BODY/INTERIOR/DOOR SILL TRIM - INSTALLATION)
.WARNING: DO NOT CONNECT THE BATTERY NEGATIVE CABLE. REFER TO DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING - AIRBAG SYSTEM FIRST. FAILURE TO DO SO COULD RESULT IN OCCUPANT PERSONAL INJURY OR DEATH.
- Close hood.
- Verify vehicle and system operation.
