Diagnostic Test

  1. CHECK FOR ACTIVE DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) 
    1. Turn the ignition on.
    2. Using the scan tool, read the active DTCs.

      Does the scan tool display this DTC as active?

      Yes 

      • Go to step  2

      No 

  2. POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE INTERNALLY SHORTED 
    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Disconnect the Powertrain Control Module C1 harness connector.
    3. Turn the ignition on.
    4. Using the scan tool, read DTCs.

      Does the scan tool display this DTC as active?

      Yes 

      • Go to step  3

      No 

  3. (F1) FUSED IGNITION SWITCH OUTPUT (OFF-RUN-START) CIRCUIT SHORT TO GROUND

    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Disconnect the IPM C1 harness connector.
    3. Measure the resistance between ground and the (F1) Fused Ignition Switch Output (Off-Run-Start) circuit at the IPM C1 harness connector.

      Is the resistance below 10K Ohms?

      Yes 

      No 

      • Go to step  4
  4. CHECK FCM AND IPM FOR A SHORT TO GROUND 
    1. Disconnect the Front Control Module from the IPM.
    2. Measure the resistance to ground of the (F1) Fused Ignition Switch Output (Off-Run-Start) circuit at the male terminal of the IPM C1 connector.

      Is the resistance below 10K Ohms?

      Yes 

      No
