Diagnostic Test

  1. DTC IS ACTIVE 
    1. Ignition on, engine not running.
    2. With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
    3. Move the Shift control to each position, while monitoring the Data Display on the scan tool.

      Does the DTC reset?

      Yes 

      • Go to step  2

      No 

      • Go to step  12
  2. (T101) SHIFT MOTOR (+) CIRCUIT SHORTED TO VOLTAGE

    1. Turn the ignition off to the lock position.
    2. Disconnect the Shift Motor/Mode Sensor Assembly harness connector.
    3. Separate the FCM from the IPM.
    4. Ignition on, engine not running.
    5. Measure the voltage of the (T101) Shift Motor (+) circuit at the Shift Motor/Mode Sensor Assembly harness connector.

      Is there any voltage present?

      Yes 

      No 

      • Go to step  3
  3. (T102) SHIFT MOTOR (-) CIRCUIT SHORTED TO VOLTAGE

    1. Measure the voltage of the (T102) Shift Motor (-) circuit at the Shift Motor/Mode Sensor Assembly harness connector.

      Is there any voltage present?

      Yes 

      No 

      • Go to step  4
  4. SHIFT MOTOR CIRCUIT RESISTANCE AT FCM CONNECTOR

    1. Turn the ignition off to the lock position.
    2. Reconnect the Shift Motor/Mode Sensor Assembly harness connector.
    3. Measure the resistance between the Shift Motor (+) circuit and the Shift Motor (-) circuit at the FCM harness connector of the IPM.

      Is the resistance between 40 and 100 Ohms?

      Yes 

      • Go to step  11

      No 

      • Go to step  5
  5. SHIFT MOTOR CIRCUIT RESISTANCE AT IPM CONNECTOR

    1. Disconnect the IPM C2 harness connector.
    2. Measure the resistance between the Shift Motor (+) circuit and the Shift Motor (-) circuit at the IPM C2 harness connector.

      Is the resistance between 40 and 100 Ohms?

      Yes 

      • Go to step  10

      No 

      • Go to step  6
  6. (T101) SHIFT MOTOR (+) CIRCUIT OPEN

    1. Disconnect the Shift Motor/Mode Sensor Assembly harness connector.
    2. Measure the resistance of the (T101) Shift Motor (+) circuit between the Shift Motor/Mode Sensor Assembly harness connector and the IPM C2 harness connector.

      Is the resistance above 5.0 Ohms?

      Yes 

      No 

      • Go to step  7
  7. (T102) SHIFT MOTOR (-) CIRCUIT OPEN

    1. Measure the resistance of the (T102) Shift Motor (-) circuit from the Shift Motor/Mode Sensor Assembly harness connector to the IPM C2 harness connector.

      Is the resistance above 5.0 Ohms?

      Yes 

      No 

      • Go to step  8
  8. (T101) SHIFT MOTOR (+) POS CIRCUIT SHORTED TO THE (T102) SHIFT MOTOR (-) CIRCUIT

    1. Measure the resistance between (T101) Shift Motor (+) circuit and the (T102) Shift Motor (-) circuit at the Shift Motor/Mode Sensor Assembly harness connector.

      Is the resistance below 5.0 Ohms?

      Yes 

      No 

      • Go to step  9
  9. SHIFT MOTOR/MODE SENSOR ASSEMBLY 
    1. Using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect all wiring harness and connectors that pertain to this circuit.

      Were any problems found?

      Yes 

      No 

  10. INTEGRATED POWER MODULE (IPM) 
    1. Using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect all wiring harness and connectors that pertain to this circuit.

      Were any problems found?

      Yes 

      No 

  11. FRONT CONTROL MODULE (FCM) 
    1. Using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect all wiring harness and connectors that pertain to this circuit.

      Were any problems found?

      Yes 

      No 

  12. INTERMITTENT WIRING AND CONNECTORS 
    1. The conditions necessary to set this DTC are not present at this time.
    2. Using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect the wiring harness and connectors.
    3. While monitoring the scan tool data relative to this circuit, wiggle test the wiring harness and connectors.
    4. Look for the data to change or for the DTC to reset during the wiggle test.

      Were any problems found?

      Yes 

      No 

      • Test complete.
