Battery Pack Control Module (BPCM)
The BPCM communicates on the Hybrid Local Area Network (LAN) with the HCP, the Transmission Electro-Hydraulic Control Module (TEHCM), Accessory Power Module (APM) and Hybrid Gateway Module (HGM). The HGM also sends messages from the BPCM across the CAN-C network for use by other modules.
Most BPCM communications are with the HCP. As the HCP controls the hybrid drivetrain, the BPCM make sure that the HV battery pack can supply the necessary HV current so that the vehicle can be driven. The BPCM notifies the HCP that current from the battery pack should be limited because of battery temperature or SOC.
The BPCM controls the functions of the HV Battery Pack. The BPCM provides control outputs to:
- Positive and Negative Contactors
- Pre-Charge Contactor
- HV Battery Cooling Fan
- HVIL Source Current
The BPCM monitors the following inputs:
- Hybrid LAN Messages
- HV Module Voltages (20 Inputs)
- Total HV Battery Voltage
- HV Battery Current
- HVIL Circuit Current
- Battery Pack Isolation Resistance (Measured Impedance)
