Diagnostic Test

- ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) MODULE DTCS PRESENT
- Ignition on, engine not running.
- With the scan tool, select View DTCs in the ABS Module.
Are there any ABS DTCs present?
Yes
- Perform the appropriate diagnostic procedure. Refer to DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Antilock Brake (ABS) - Diagnosis and Testing .
No
- Go to step 2
- POWER CONTROL MODULE (PCM) DTCS PRESENT
- Ignition on, engine not running.
- With the scan tool, select View DTCs in the PCM.
Are there any PCM DTCs present?
Yes
- Before continuing with this diagnostic procedure. Refer to DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Powertrain Control (PCM) - Diagnosis and Testing .
No
- Go to step 3
- DTC IS ACTIVE
- Ignition on, engine not running.
- With the scan tool, select View DTCs.
Is the status Active for this DTC?
Yes
- Go to step 4
- Perform the TRANSFER CASE VERIFICATION TEST. See DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Final Drive Control (FDCM) - Standard Procedure .
No
- Go to step 5
- VERIFY SET CONDITION NOTE: Check with customer on driving terrain (e.g. mud, sand, snow) for set condition.
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
- Test drive vehicle on dry paved road.
- With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Is the status Active for this DTC?
Yes
- Replace the Transfer Case Clutch Pack in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform the TRANSFER CASE VERIFICATION TEST. See DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Final Drive Control (FDCM) - Standard Procedure .
No
- Test Complete.
- Perform the TRANSFER CASE VERIFICATION TEST. See DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Final Drive Control (FDCM) - Standard Procedure .
- INTERMITTENT WIRING AND CONNECTORS
- The conditions necessary to set this DTC are not present at this time.
- Using the schematics as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors specific to this circuit.
- Wiggle test the wiring harness and connectors while checking for shorted and open circuits.
- Using the scan tool, monitor the data related to this circuit while performing the wiggle test. Look for the data to change or for the DTC to reset.
Were there any problems found?
Yes
- Repair as necessary.
- Perform the TRANSFER CASE VERIFICATION TEST. See DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Final Drive Control (FDCM) - Standard Procedure .
No
- Test Complete.
