Fuel System Pressure Release

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2011 RAM Dakota. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Use the following procedure if the fuel injector rail is, or is not equipped with a fuel pressure test port.

  1. Remove the fuel fill cap.
  2. Remove the fuel pump relay from the Integrated Power Module (IPM). For relay location, refer to the label on the underside of the IPM cover.
  3. Start and run the engine until it stalls.
  4. Attempt restarting engine until it will no longer run.
  5. Turn the ignition key to the OFF position.
  6. Place a rag or towel below the fuel line quick-connect fitting at the fuel rail.
  7. Disconnect the quick-connect fitting at the fuel rail. Refer to FITTING, Quick Connect, Standard Procedure .
  8. Return the fuel pump relay to the IPM.
NOTE:

One or more Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC's) may have been stored in the PCM memory due to the fuel pump relay removal. A diagnostic scan tool must be used to erase a DTC.
