Diagnostic Test
- CHECK FOR ADDITIONAL ACTIVE EPPM DTCS NOTE:
Make sure the battery is fully charged.
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, read the active EPPM DTC.NOTE:
DTC B22A5 ELECTRONIC PEDESTRIAN PROTECTION MODULE (EPPM) DTC PRESENT will also set in the ORC. Upon the INITIALIZE EPPM procedure being performed both the B22A5 and the B2769-00 will change from Active to Stored DTC status.
Is B2769-00-EPPM UNLOCKED - ALL DEPLOYMENT DISABLED the only active DTC?
Yes
- Go To 2.
No
- Refer to DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING or DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING and select the appropriate diagnostic procedure.
- INITIALIZE EPPM
- With the scan tool, select Initialize EPPM in the Miscellaneous Functions tab.NOTE:
Please perform all steps in the sequence presented following exactly the steps to successfully complete the Initialize EPPM procedure.
Select the CURRENT STATUS displayed on the Scan Tool.
CURRENT STATUS
- LOCKED
- The EPPM is in a full state of readiness.
- Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE and perform the EPPM SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST.
CURRENT STATUS
- UNLOCKED
- Go To 3.
CURRENT STATUS
- EPPM is Responding with incorrect Data
- With the scan tool, select INITIALIZE EPPM within the MISC. FUNCTIONS tab.
- After the INITIALIZE EPPM is complete: Restart this test at step 1.
- Go To 1.
- With the scan tool, select Initialize EPPM in the Miscellaneous Functions tab.
- CHANGE EPPM STATUS
- Follow the instruction on the screen to change the status to LOCKED.
- The Scan Tool will display the result of the initialization.
Does the Scan Tool display: EPPM LOCK Successful?
Yes
- CURRENT STATUS is EPPM LOCK Successful
- Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE and perform the EPPM SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST.
No
- Go To 4.
- INCOMPLETE OR FAILED EPPM INITIALIZATION
Does the Scan Tool display: EPPM Initialization Failed?
Yes
- CURRENT STATUS is EPPM Initialization Failed
- Replace the EPPM in accordance with service information. Refer to MODULE, ELECTRONIC PEDESTRIAN PROTECTION, REMOVAL .
- Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE and perform the EPPM SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST.
WARNING:Turn the ignition off disconnect the 12-volt battery and wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
WARNING:If the Electronic Pedestrian Protection Module (EPPM) is dropped at any time, it must be replaced. Failure to take the proper precautions can result in accidental actuator deployment. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
No
- CURRENT STATUS is Current and original VIN have not been learned by EPPM.
- With the scan tool, select INITIALIZE EPPM within the MISCELLANEOUS FUNCTIONS tab.
- After the INITIALIZE EPPM scan tool process is complete: Restart this test at step 1.
- Go To 1.
