Module, HVAC: Removal: Removal

WARNING:

Disable the airbag system before attempting any steering wheel, steering column, or instrument panel component diagnosis or service. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery (ground) cable, then wait two minutes for the airbag system capacitor to discharge before performing further diagnosis or service. This is the only sure way to disable the airbag system. Failure to follow these instructions may result in accidental airbag deployment and possible serious or fatal injury. Refer to WARNING .

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the glove box. Refer to GLOVE BOX, INSTRUMENT PANEL, REMOVAL .
  3. Disconnect the wire harness connector (3) from the Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) module (1), located on the air inlet housing (4).
    NOTE:

    It is not necessary to fully remove the two front HVAC module retaining screws. The front HVAC module retaining tabs are slotted to aid in module service.

  4. Loosen the two screws (2) that secure the front of the HVAC module to the air inlet housing.
  5. Remove the one screw (5) that secures the rear of the HVAC module to the air inlet housing.
  6. Slide the HVAC module rearward to disengage the module from the two front retaining screws and remove the module.
