Diagnostic Test

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2012 Chrysler 300. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. PERFORM APS INTERMITTENT DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE
    WARNING:

When the engine is operating, do not stand in direct line with the fan. Do not put your hands near the pulleys, belts, or fan. Do not wear loose clothing. Failure to follow these instructions can result in personal injury or death.

    1. The DTC is not active at this time. The following may help to identify an intermittent condition:
    2. Check for Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) that may apply.
    3. Use DTC environmental data to try to duplicate the conditions in which the DTC was set.
    4. Turn the ignition off.
    5. Inspect the related wiring harness and connectors. Look for any chafed, pierced, pinched, partially broken wires, or broken, bent, pushed out, or corroded terminals.
    6. Perform a voltage drop test on the circuits between the component and the applicable module.
    7. If multiple DTCs are set, use a wiring schematic and inspect any common ground or supply circuits.
    8. Inspect and clean all ground circuits that are related to the most current DTC.
    9. Use the scan tool to perform a System Test or Actuation, if one applies to the component.
    10. Perform a wiggle test on the related wiring and connectors while monitoring the scan tool. Look for the DTC to reset or data to change during the test.
    11. A co-pilot, data recorder, and/or lab scope should be used to diagnose an intermittent condition.
