Sensor, Impact: Installation: Front
WARNING:
To avoid serious or fatal injury, never strike or drop the front impact sensor, as it can damage the impact sensor or affect its calibration. The front impact sensor enables the system to deploy the front Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) components. If an impact sensor is accidentally dropped during service, the sensor must be scrapped and replaced with a new unit. Failure to observe this warning could result in accidental, incomplete, or improper front SRS component deployment.
- Position the front impact sensor in the correct location and install the two retaining screws (2). Tighten screws (2) to 7 N.m (62 in. lbs.).
- Connect the front impact sensor electrical connector (3).
- Do not reconnect the negative cable to the battery at this time. The Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Verification Test procedure should be performed following service of any SRS component. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
NOTE:
If replacing the left front impact sensor, the air intake system needs to be installed.
WARNING:
Do not connect the battery negative cable. If the system test is not performed first it may result in serious or fatal injury.
