Diagnostic Test

  1. CHECK IF THE DTC IS ACTIVE 
    1. Ignition on, engine not running.
    2. With the scan tool, record and erase Memory Seat Module-Driver (MSMD) DTCs.
    3. Cycle the ignition switch from off to on.
    4. Move the Seat Switch in the horizontal position three times.
    5. With the scan tool, read MSMD DTCs.

      Does the scan tool display this DTC as active?

      Yes 

      • Go To  2

      No 

      • The condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time. Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, check all related splices and connectors for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, pushed out or bent terminals, and correct pin tension.
      • Perform the POWER SEAT SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  2. CHECK THE (G401) DRIVER SEAT HORIZONTAL POSITION SENSE CIRCUIT 
    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Disconnect the Driver Horizontal Seat Adjuster Motor harness connector.
    3. Ignition on, engine not running.
    4. Measure the voltage between the (G401) Driver Seat Horizontal Position Sense circuit and ground.

      Is the voltage above 11.0 volts?

      Yes 

      • Go To  3

      No 

      • Replace the Power Seat Track in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to DESCRIPTION .
      • Perform the POWER SEAT SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  3. CHECK THE (G401) DRIVER SEAT HORIZONTAL POSITION SENSE CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE 
    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Disconnect the MSMD C5 harness connector.
    3. Ignition on, engine not running.
    4. Measure the voltage between ground and the (G401) Driver Seat Horizontal Position Sense circuit.

      Is the voltage above 1.0 volt?

      Yes 

      • Repair the (G401) Driver Seat Horizontal Position Sense circuit for a short to voltage.
      • Perform the POWER SEAT SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .

      No 

      • Go To  4
  4. MEMORY SEAT MODULE (MSMD) 
    1. Using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect the wiring and harness connectors between the Driver Horizontal Seat Adjuster Motor and the MSMD.
    2. Look for any chafed, pierced, pinched, or partially broken wires.
    3. Look for broken, bent, pushed out or corroded terminals. Verify that there is good pin to terminal contact in the Driver Horizontal Seat Adjuster Motor and MSMD harness connectors.
    4. Perform any Technical Service Bulletins that may apply.

      Were there any problems found?

      Yes 

      • Repair as necessary.
      • Perform the POWER SEAT SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
