Module, Forward Facing Camera: Operation: Operation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2015 Dodge Durango. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The Forward Facing Camera (FFC) is powered by a battery feed from the Power Distribution Center (PDC) so that it is only active when ignition is set to the run position.

Smart Beam Operation  - The FFC reports on the CAN C bus to the BCM for messages needed for the AHBC functionality. and for further detailed operating parameters of the AHBC system.

Adaptive Cruise Control Plus and Forward Collision Warning Plus (ACC+/FCW+)  - The FFC reports to the Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) radar to create the enhanced ACC+ as well as the FCW+ operation. These components share a private CAN B bus where data from the FFC is sent to the ACC module for data fusion.

The hard wired circuits between components related to the FFC system may be diagnosed using conventional diagnostic tools and procedures. Refer to the appropriate wiring information. The wiring information includes wiring diagrams, proper wire and connector repair procedures, details of wire harness routing and retention, connector pin out information and location views for the various wire harness connectors, splices and grounds. However, conventional diagnostic methods will not prove conclusive in the diagnosis of the FFC system or the electronic controls and communication between ECU and other devices that provide some features of this system. The most reliable, efficient and accurate means to diagnose the FFC and communication related to the FFC system operation requires the use of a diagnostic scan tool. Refer to the appropriate diagnostic information.
