Diagnostic Test
- CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC
- With the scan tool, read Memory Seat Module-Driver (MSMD) DTCs and record on the work order.
- With the scan tool, erase MSMD DTCs.
- Turn the ignition off.
- Turn the ignition on.
- Move the Telescope Switch in the forward/rearward position multiple times.
- With the scan tool, read MSMD DTCs.
Does the DTC return?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Go To 5
- CHECK THE (P152) TELESCOPE STEERING FORWARD/REARWARD POSITION SENSE CIRCUIT
- Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect the Steering Wheel Tilt Motor and Steering Wheel Telescope Motor harness connectors.
- Turn the ignition on.
- Measure the voltage between ground and the (P152) Telescope Steering Forward/Rearward Position Sense circuit.
Is the voltage below 11.0 volts?
Yes
- Go To 3
No
- Replace the Steering Column Telescope Motor in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to COLUMN, REMOVAL .
- Perform the POWER SEAT SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWER SEAT SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST .
- CHECK THE (P152) TELESCOPE STEERING FORWARD/REARWARD POSITION SENSE CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect the MSMD C1 harness connector.
- Check for continuity between ground and the (P152) Telescope Steering Forward/Rearward Position Sense circuit at the MSMD C1 harness connector.
Is there continuity between ground and the (P152) Telescope Steering Forward/Rearward Position Sense circuit?
Yes
- Repair the (P152) Telescope Steering Forward/Rearward Position Sense circuit for a short to ground.
- Perform the POWER SEAT SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWER SEAT SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 4
- MEMORY SEAT MODULE (MSMD)
- Using the schematics as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors between the motor and the MSMD.
- Check for chafed, pierced, pinched, or partially broken wires and broken, bent, pushed out or corroded terminals and correct pin tension.
Were any problems found?
Yes
- Repair as necessary.
- Perform the POWER SEAT SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWER SEAT SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Replace and program the Memory Seat Module (MSMD) in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to MODULE, MEMORY, SEAT, REMOVAL .
- Perform the POWER SEAT SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWER SEAT SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST .
- CHECK THE WIRING AND CONNECTORS
- The conditions necessary to set the DTC are not present at this time.
- Using the schematics as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors specific to this circuit. Wiggle the wiring and connectors while checking for shorted and open circuits. Attempt to reproduce the condition by adjusting the seat(s).
- Check all related splices and connectors for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, pushed out or bent terminals, and correct pin tension.
- Check Service Bulletins for any possible causes that may apply.
Were any problems found?
Yes
- Repair as necessary.
- Perform the POWER SEAT SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWER SEAT SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Test complete.
