Diagnostic Test
- DETERMINE ACTIVE OR STORED DTC NOTE:
Make sure the battery is fully charged.
- Turn the ignition on.
- Wait 12 seconds, then with the scan tool, read all active EPPM DTCs.
Is the DTC active or stored?
EPPM - ACTIVE DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC)
- Go To 2
EPPM - STORED DTC
- Perform the EPPM SYSTEM INTERMITTENT TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- CHECK BCM COUNTRY CODE AND VEHICLE LINE
- With the scan tool, check for the correct Country Code, Vehicle Line, and Body Style.
Does the Vehicle Configuration in the BCM match the Vehicle Configuration in the EPPM?
Yes
WARNING:If the Electronic Pedestrian Protection Module (EPPM) is dropped at any time, it must be replaced. Failure to take the proper precautions can result in accidental actuator deployment. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
WARNING:Turn the ignition off disconnect the 12-volt battery and wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
- Replace the EPPM in accordance with Service Information. Refer to MODULE, ELECTRONIC PEDESTRIAN PROTECTION, REMOVAL .
- Perform the EPPM SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .

- Configure the BCM in accordance with the Service Information.NOTE:
The EPPM Reset Function must be performed after the repair to force the module to retest for this DTC. Access the Miscellaneous Function or Diagnostics Procedures menu from the EPPM ECU Overview screen on the scan tool to perform this operation.
- With the scan tool, check for the correct Country Code, Vehicle Line, and Body Style.
