Diagnostic Test
- CHECK FOR ADDITIONAL ACTIVE EPPM DTCS NOTE:
Make sure the battery is fully charged.
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, read the active EPPM DTC.
Is B2769-00-EPPM UNLOCKED - ALL DEPLOYMENT DISABLED the only active DTC?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Select the appropriate diagnostic procedure from the. Refer to DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING .
- INITIALIZE EPPM
- With the scan tool, select Initialize EPPM.
- The Scan Tool will display the current Deployment Disable Status (CURRENT STATUS)
Select the CURRENT STATUS displayed on the Scan Tool.
CURRENT STATUS
- LOCKED
- The EPPM is in a full state of readiness.
- Perform the EPPM SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
CURRENT STATUS
- UNLOCKED
- Go To 3
CURRENT STATUS
- EPPM is Responding with incorrect Data
- With the scan tool, select MISC. FUNCTION or DIAGNOSTICS PROCEDURES and then EPPM RESET.
- After the EPPM RESET is complete: Restart this test at step 1.
- Go To 1
- CHANGE EPPM STATUS
- Follow the instruction on the screen to change the status to LOCKED.
- The Scan Tool will display the result of the initialization.
Does the Scan Tool display: EPPM LOCK Successful?
Yes
- CURRENT STATUS is EPPM LOCK Successful
- Perform the EPPM SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
No
- Go To 4
- INCOMPLETE OR FAILED EPPM INITIALIZATION
Does the Scan Tool display: EPPM Initialization Failed?
Yes
- CURRENT STATUS is EPPM Initialization Failed
- Replace the EPPM in accordance with service information. Refer to MODULE, ELECTRONIC PEDESTRIAN PROTECTION, REMOVAL .
- Perform the EPPM SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
WARNING:Turn the ignition off disconnect the 12-volt battery and wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
WARNING:If the Electronic Pedestrian Protection Module (EPPM) is dropped at any time, it must be replaced. Failure to take the proper precautions can result in accidental actuator deployment. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
No
- CURRENT STATUS is Current and original VIN have not been learned by EPPM.
- With the scan tool, select MISC. FUNCTION or DIAGNOSTICS PROCEDURES and then EPPM RESET.
- After the RESET is complete: Restart this test at step 1.
- Go To 1
