Module, Radio Receiver: Operation

The radio becomes operational when it receives a wake up signal over the Controller Area Network - Interior High Speed (CAN-IHS) data bus indicating the status of the ignition switch is ON or Accessory. The radio uses a on-glass antenna screened to the back glass for AM/FM signal reception and, depending upon optional vehicle equipment, a roof mounted shark fin combination antenna that can receive Global Positioning System (GPS), satellite radio and cellular telephone signals.

Depending upon the audio system options, a radio can play music from many different media sources. The media can be played by connecting the source to the audio system via a 3.5 millimeter auxiliary (AUX) audio port, a Universal Serial Bus (USB) port, a remote Secure Data (SD) card slot (RA2 only)  , a external Compact Disc (CD) player or through wireless Bluetooth® audio streaming.
