CAUTION:
The Transmission Control Module (TCM), or Transmission Control Module Assembly (TCMA) is extremely sensitive to Electrostatic Discharge (ESD). Always use a ground strap and follow the ESD guidelines in ELECTROSTATIC DISCHARGE (ESD) SENSITIVE DEVICES. Failure to follow these instructions may result in damage to the TCM/TCMA.
- Install the fluid port (1) with NEW
O-rings (2) and seal (3) to the transmission case.
- Install the valve body assembly to the transmission using the previously installed (1) (special tool #10379, Pins, Valve Body Alignment) as a guide.
- Use an appropriate tool on one of the alignment pins to assist in holding the valve body in position while installing the remaining fasteners.
- Install the valve body assembly retaining bolts not including 16-18 and hand tighten.
- Remove the pins and install the remaining bolts.
- Using (special tool #10377, Remover/Installer, Guide Sleeve) (1) carefully install the electrical harness insulator (2) to the transmission case (3).
- Lock the electrical connector lock (2) to the internal harness end.
- Install the rear valve body retaining bolts (1, 2) and tighten to the proper (Torque Specifications).
- When installing the OSS into the case, take care to position the OSS guide pin as shown below or DAMAGE
to the sensor may result. This is the INCORRECT
alignment of the pin.
- This is the CORRECT
installation and pin alignment.
- Install the Output Speed Sensor (OSS) (4) to the case install the retaining bolt (1) and tighten to the proper. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
.
- If equipped, install the Hydraulic Impulse Oil Storage (HIS) accumulator (1).
- Tighten the bolts (2 and 3) to the proper. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
- Connect the HIS electrical connector.
- Install the valve body assembly end retainer bolts (3) and hand tighten.
- Tighten the valve body fasteners to the proper in the sequence shown. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

- Remove the tie strap and return the Manual Park Release (MPR) lever (1) to the original position, tighten the fastener (2) to the proper. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

- Install the oil pan and gasket.
- Install the thirteen oil pan retaining bolts and tighten the fasteners to the proper in the sequence shown. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

- Connect the transmission wire harness connector (1).
- Turn the locking mechanism (1) of the transmission wire harness connector (2) clockwise to lock it in place.
- If the valve body is replaced, program the TCM. Refer to MODULE, TRANSMISSION CONTROL (TCM), MODULE PROGRAMMING .
- Perform the TRANSMISSION FILL AFTER SERVICE procedure. Refer to FLUID AND FILTER, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to the appropriate diagnostic & testing article. .
