Diagnostic Test

CHECK IF TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE (TCM) SOFTWARE UPDATE IS AVAILABLE
1. With the scan tool, check if a TCM software update is available.
  Is an update available?
  
  Yes
  - Go To 2.
  No
  - Using the schematics as a guide, check the Transmission Control Module (TCM) connector and all related in-line connector terminals for corrosion, damage, or pushed out terminals. Pay particular attention to the power and ground circuits. If no problems are found, replace and program the TCM in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE - 8HP45/8HP70 and REMOVAL, VALVE BODY, 845RE .
  - Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST .
PROGRAM THE TCM
1. Perform the TCM PROGRAMMING PROCEDURE. Refer to 8HP45/845RE TCM PROGRAMMING PROCEDURE .
2. Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST .
  Were you able to successfully program the TCM and pass the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST?
  
  Yes
  - Test complete.
  No
  - Using the schematics as a guide, check the Transmission Control Module (TCM) connector and all related in-line connector terminals for corrosion, damage, or pushed out terminals. Pay particular attention to the power and ground circuits. If no problems are found, replace and program the TCM in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to REMOVAL, VALVE BODY, 845RE .
  - Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST .
